El juego sigue el mismo formato de la película, en donde un niño es abandonado en una espesa selva, apenas cuando es un bebe, y es criado por una manada de simios, los cuales lo "adoptan" como uno de los suyos, hasta convertirse en un adulto, con habilidades de simio.
Disney's Tarzan es un juego en donde recorreras 13 niveles que solo poseen el ambiente selva, posee también niveles de bono y muchos movimientos. Y al igual que Zelda 64, aquí podrás jugar como niño (o joven) hasta adulto.

Overcome the jungle's most dangerous perils in this action-packed adventure. Based on the animated film, Tarzan allows you to relive Tarzan's journey through life from a headstrong youth to a courageous adult. Your innate jungle abilities will allow you to swing, climb, run, jump, and surf through 13 beautiful environments, while interacting with unique characters, riding elephants, and solving challenging puzzles. It's now up to you to master the moves of this unique jungle hero and save Tarzan's family from a ruthless hunter.
We could call it a platform game if it wasn't 3D, but it still looks like a platform game. Much alike to "Lion King" only seeable made of polygons. This little arcade game puts you in a role of Tarzan, a soon-to-be king of the jungle, leads you to a bunch of quest levels where you can collect coins, map pieces, 'TARZAN' letters and other stuff, as well as call your monkey friend from time to time that'll give you a brief explanation of things flyin' around. After each completed level, there will be a brief animations that they've probably taken from Disney's cartoon.
